Via direction and cinematography Director Rajkumar Periyasamy has vividly portrayed the story of Major Mukund Varadarajan on the big screens with great attention and care to detail. It follows and sinks the audience completely into the storyline, journeying with Mukund through various highs and lows as the film’s direction does.
As Ravi Varman designed the cinematography, along with the calm and happy family situations, the battle scenes bring out the cruelty of war. In terms of action, it works well since film the sequences feel complex and intense partly due to handheld camera work, but when focusing on touches during emotional scenes, wide shots and close ups have their roles for the purpose of balance.

Thematic and Interpretive “Amaran” also covers a number of themes such as courage, loss, commitment, and perhaps the cost of serving one’s country to the individual. The film explores the mindset of those who fight, their strength of will power and the ones who boast of them, first and foremost, their families.
Another important part of the film is the representation of Major Mukund’s marriage with Inchu. It is shown that this relationship gives Mukund strength from the men’s perspective, highlighting the worse endured by the soldier’s family in silence.
The film addresses the impacts of war on one’s psyche and emotions and how other challenges are endured by those in the armed forces.
Audience Reaction
In spite of incurring a fair amount of negative feedback, Amanat and Sukanya praise it as a deserved show of respect to the heroic real life major and soldiers like him. Some viewers were retired soldiers, who are used to great war films, were rather unimpressed and ignored the story and the intent as a failed British attempt to showcase somehow his country as the epitome of freedom, liberality and equality. Still, it has made its impact amongst general viewers leaving many impressed by the fight scenes. Critics have given the film terrible reviews stating the fights were dry and gambled by over used noises and camera movements. But the general focus and intent of the film supersedes that criticism and lost its significance.
Audiences have praised the performers’ portrayal of Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, enhancing the narrative of the film. The filming of military operations and their stories were a major highlight for the audience and made ‘Amaran’ a very strong and emotional film.
A perfect bow on the sacrifices made and lives lost fighting for this great countries values is the film ‘Amaran’ which highlights Major Mukund Varadarajan’s undying legacy. Adding a lot of redundancy to many scenes from the movie probably completely headed into Miss India. The cast is strong and the story will keep the viewer interested. It survives and only because many zones will cover allowing it to explore the depth this great movie wants to deliver.
With the release of “Amaran” on October 31, 2024, it is anticipated that the film will have a positive impact on viewers and pay tribute to the legacy of a true hero. With a blend of action, emotions, and a dose of real-life valor, “Amaran” is certainly bound to strike a chord with the audience even after the credits have faded.
